Summary of the Vision & Action Plan, presented by Paul Diluce Brown at the Chamber's 2008 AGM on 11 March.
Our Objective is to help protect the unique character, prosperity, vitality & viability of the City of Truro, as new Investment / Development is resolved and Truro continues to grow in size and
new businesses appear and our population increases. This we strive to help achieve by working in partnership with the Authorities, the Private Sector, BIDs and the Local Community in an appropriate and sympathetic manner, now and for generations to come.
The Carrick District Council Truro and Threemilestone Area Action Plan has encompassed many of the principles of our evolving Vision and Action Plan over the past few years.

Set out below are our top ten priorities, which are to be reviewed every three months and will no doubt evolve as investment and development change our environment. We have already
opened communications with One Cornwall who will replace Carrick District Council and the other District Councils in April 2009.
THE TOP TEN PRIORITIES
01.00 TO UPGRADE THE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE INTO, ACROSS AND OUT OF THE CITY BY ALL MODES OF TRANSPORT INCLUDING PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT.
01.01 To help bring about a comprehensive, efficient and well maintained Park & Ride scheme.
01.02 To work with the Authorities to ensure that appropriate road improvements are resolved and that proper consultation takes place, allowing enough time for us to meet and conclude our stance and forward our comments, in advance of any authoritative decision.
01.03 Taking into account all those traveling by Car, Park & Ride, Public Transport, Bike, Foot, Water or Air.
01.03 To help encourage improvements to our Roads, Car Parks, Pavements, Opeways and Waterways, which includes better signage / directions.
02.00 TO HELP EASE THE MOVEMENT OF TRADE VEHICLES IN AND OUT OF THE CITY.
02.01 To help ensure that the loading and off loading of goods is conducted with ease.
02.02 This includes the necessity of enforcing traffic regulations relating to designated loading and unloading bays to ensure that they are kept clear.
03.00 TO ENCOURAGE CONSOLIDATED DEVELOPMENT GROWTH AND HELP BRING ABOUT HIGH QUALITY / SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE IN ALL AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT TO PREVENT SPRAWL AND IMPROVE TRURO’S ENVIRONMENT.
03.01 To help direct and bring together in partnership with The Authorities the new Local Development Framework and the Local Transport Plan.
03.02 To ensure that appropriate high quality mixed development takes place over car
parks,encouraging consolidated development and helping to protect the Vitality and Viability of City Centre.
04.00 TO ENCOURAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO OPEN PUBLIC SPACES & SPORTING FACILITIES.
04.01 Lemon Quay should be fully pedestrianised.
04.02 The back of Malletts and The Leats are neglected and are in need of environmental enhancement. This is where our key public toilets are located.
04.02 To encourage the development of an appropriate stadium within the Truro area.
05.00 ENCOURAGE INTEGRATED TRANSPORT AND IMPROVEMENTS TO ALL CITY CAR PARKS / PARK & RIDE AND ALL TRANSPORT TERMINALS.
05.01 To continue to work with and help unite transport providers to bring about better travelling information and integrated ticketing.
06.00 TO HELP A SHOPMOBILITY SCHEME TO MATERIALISE
06.01 To help bring about better and new facilities to include rather than exclude and cater for all wanting to enjoy the Truro Experience and spend their money where and when they want to.
07.00 HELP TO IMPROVE AND ENCOURAGE TOURISM.
07.01 To work in partnership with the City Partners to improve the marketing of Truro.
07.02 To help bring about City Events and participate with others to promote our city and bring people into Truro to enjoy what we already do.
08.00 STRIVE TO ENSURE THAT TRURO RESOLVES A HEALTHIER VARIETY OF BUSINESSES.
08.01 To encourage new and varied sustainable Industry & Commerce, whilst supporting our members to embrace rather than being afraid of competition, keeping our members informed of change. Supporting the variety of Family, Independent and National businesses and stores collectively to combat the cloning of our city.
09.00 PRESERVE & IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF OUR ENVIRONMENT
09.01 To help preserve and improve the green, clean, safe, friendly and beautiful nature of our historic magnificent Cathedral City.
09.02 To help recognise, reveal and sympathetically open up and reinstate the beauty of Truro’s waterways, including The Leats and Rivers.
09.03 The promotion of commercial recycling.
10.00 TO CONTINUE TO BE CRITICALLY CONSTRUCTIVE OF THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE OF INVESTMENT & DEVELOPMENT IN AND AROUND OUR CITY.
10.01 To continue to look at development proposals and visit new buildings and see what Industry & Commerce offers our members and the city as a whole.
10.02 Whilst encouraging some degree of protection and comprehensive cultivation of the green landscape of the Greater City of Truro.
