CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
The City of Truro Chamber of Commerce Transportation, Planning & Conservation Committee are an energetic team of professionals working in Planning, Architecture, Public Transport and Retailing. We meet every month and when required, to discuss and subsequently direct the City of Truro Chamber of Commerce, in all issues relating to Transportation, Planning & Conservation to help protect and enhance the vitality & viability of Truro to ensure that prosperity continues to flourish in our magnificent evolving Cathedral City.

We ensure that the voice of the City of Truro Chamber of Commerce is heard. We are currently constructing a more proactive programme to express and promote our members' views, rather than being reactive to Parking, Transport, Development and Conservation issues. We are involved with the past, present and potential of Truro, continuing to develop our working relationship with Truro City Council, Carrick District Council, Cornwall County Council, Developers / The Private Sector and The Community of Truro, sometimes through other committees like the Working for Truro Association, Carrick Community Alliance, Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership and the Truro City Conservation Advisory Committee.

We are consistently questioned and consulted on numerous planning proposals and on a variety of complex written / graphic documentation and will continue to resolve appropriate / constructive comments on development, whilst listening to your and others' concerns. We gather data, organise meetings and presentations, read / write letters and reports, whilst digesting drawings and heavy strategies, discuss and formulate informed / professional opinions and resolve action plans to report to the Executive Committee and instigate them.

We have played and will continue to play an active role in instigating the new City's Holistic / Integrated Transport Strategy whilst endeavouring to resolve a more enhanced Lemon Quay programme, whilst recognising the current effect on Pydar Street. We have commented on and are involved with numerous Plans / Strategies and Development Proposals including:

The County and Local Structure Plans / Integrated Area Plans / Transport Plans
Newham Industrial Estate Strategy / Employment Growth Centre Frameworks
City Hospital Development / Green Travel Plans
Truro River / Marina / Harbour / Past, Present and Potential
Housing Proposals in / around our City / Out of Town Development / Park and Ride
Over the next few years Truro and indeed Cornwall will continue to see / experience significant change and we must be prepared and involved with this. For this committee to be more proactive we need your opinions up front, on issues like Pedestrianisation. So thank you once again to all those active members who felt and feel passionately enough about Truro to act and communicate their concerns to the City of Truro Chamber of Commerce to unite the Business Community of Truro with a stronger voice.
